I found this plant in the Home Depot garden dept. There was no tag inside the planter or sign on the display stating the specific variety of pepper plant. When I try to look it up online, I can't seem to find anything more specific than "ornamental pepper." Are all peppers safe for parrots to eat?

It looks like it might be cayenne? But if it isn't designed for human consumption, I wouldn't feed it to the birds. You don't know what it's been treated with or what it's come into contact with.

I don't think this is a cayenne pepper bush but i'm still not sure what it is. I did a google image search with it but only ornamental flowers came up. Just as Aquilla said if its not meant for human consumption it would be wise for you not to let your bird eat it. Anyway i hope you find out what it is. :D

Actually looks like it might be banana peppers

Those are ornamental peppers. Do NOT give those. While they themselves are likely harmless, they have been treated with all manner of pesticides and fungicides.

Thanks. I didn't think about what they may have been treated with since they aren't intended to be eaten. I'm glad I checked with my on-call birdy professors!

It's safe to assume any plant from any store is treated with these chemicals. Even the young veggies you buy at a garden center. But those at lease are young plants and given time outgrow/metabolism the chemicals before fruits form. These that you want to feed right away? Forget it.
