Is this normal?

Hi everyone!
Yesterday afternoon I brought my first bird Astro home. He's not tame so I've just been hanging out around him so he'll get used to me but I love him to pieces already.
However, I haven't really seen him eating or drinking anything. I did see him sitting on the edge of his food bowl once but that's it. Is it normal for birds not to eat for a while if they're nervous or is there something wrong? He seems otherwise healthy.

Update: He's eaten a little but I haven't seen him drink anything yet

Feeding is a vulnerable time for birds. If you just brought him home it’s normal that he’s not eating in front of you.
