I got a little Insight Activitoy's Birdie Basketball for my Sunny. It attaches to the wall and the little "basketball" is attached by a small chain. She likes it a lot. But watching her I wonder if it's safe. Are there any dangers associated with this toy that I should be aware of?

Honestly the toy looks like it is OK. The ball doesn't look too flimsy which is where my concern would be. I have seen parrots given cat jingle balls to play with and seen them snip chunks of the plastic off because it is so thin. The whole toy looks fairly sturdy.

It looks pretty safe---the short chain could possibly be a tangle hazard. Potentially, your bird could also chew off bits of plastic, but that could be said of many toys.
Pretty much every toy out there is unsafe in some way shape or form...This one doesn't look particularly bad.

I'd only let it be in use when you're right there to observe...

Good for you for being vigilant!

I actually gotten one of those for Skittles and he chewed up the plastic ball and broke the chain. I didn't get him another one.

I think it really all depends on your individual bird. But I agree that it should only be used under supervision.

I took it out. I think she only liked it because I praised her for it. I'll find, or maybe make, some different type things-into-other-things toy that doesn't make me nervous. The chain links were looking just the right size to snag a claw.

Actually maybe I'll give it to the Budgies. I think it's a safer size for them. And my little Jefferson just recently started carrying things over to drop into their swimming pool (aka birdie-bath,aka giant water dish). Maybe they'll like the birdie basketball.

I think you made the right decision. Better safe than sorry. I think the b-ball toy is more geared towards budgies anyways.
