Margret-Mealy Amazon 28 (family parrot), Petri- Peach Front Conure 4, Chloe- Congo African Grey 24 and Rio- Blue Crown Conure 4 !! :D
Finally took a picture with Petri today, formally introduced as Bijou ....it was decided that Bijou was too similar to Bujo, which is my brothers nickname...lol whatever. Petri is fitting better anyways :D

Is Petri a peach front? The flash does some funky stuff to the photos but after the orange he/she doesn't have the blue like I see most having after the orange in photos.

Your peachy also has a red ring around the eye? Maybe Petri is a 2 different types?

He does have a solid spot of orange like a peach front, which is totally washed out by the flash, but it's night now and I can't get a good photo without the flash arrgh!

Does Petri's stomach area go down to a lime green/yellow colour? Petri looks like a hybrid to me. It does look like he is a Peach Front x something else. I wouldn't know what with as we don't really have many conure species here in New Zealand(Nanday's, Suns, Peach Fronts and Maroon Bellies). Those are the only ones ive seen for sale. Maybe someone else might be able to recognised the other half?

Yes his stomach/chest is a lighter and brighter green than his wings. His flight feathers are also blue. The greens look just like yours, just a duller orange spot on the head and no blue.

Here is a video off my phone, hopefully this link works from facebook

Im still going to say a hybrid. I could be wrong.
Btw that video is VERY cute. :)

My Flynn was checking it out and he started to bob his head. :p
It's hard to hear in the video but what sort of sound does he make? :p

It's also night here and I hate the flash. I was trying to take a nice pic of Flynn/ He was playing peek-a-boo with his box (box has a hole which he puts his head through. The hole is bigger for him to fit through, so he wont get stuck).

awww hehe!! go Flynn go !!!!!

well I can't really mimic his sound right now, but I'll tell you his scream makes my ears ring when he does it on my shoulder. I think he might be a female though, I want to send in a feather for DNA testing. But she/he rubs her bum on me (which I politely end as soon as it happens) and does that backing up thing when playing with me. I read somewhere that it's a female thing, IDK. Petri mimics my laugh though, and my nickname in school was hyena so......yea great. LOL.

I would go with DNA testing just to be sure. :)
Flynn was DNA'd male. :)

Flynn has mimic our lovebird and alexandrine (well one of the sounds they make).
But his normal sound is like a purring sound/or the sound of a larger bird beak grinding. Its a very low pitched sound.

Is he possibly a Halfmoon Conure? They look similar. :) He's cute!

I dont think he's a half moon conure. They do look similar but the biggest difference is the beak color. Half moons have a light colored beak and peach fronts have a black beak.

Thanks for the input, it was making my brain hurt trying to figure it out. His band says he was born 2 years ago, I found him and never had any luck with finding his owners after working with 2 local rescues, vets, craigslist and parrotalert. My friends believe he is SO annoying someone let him out.......it's far fetched but I could see someone doing that who didn't really care about him. He is very loving and wants to go everywhere with me.....he loves taking showers with me and sits on my head. UGH.

I agree, he looks like a dusky hybrid! Although brown throat might not be too far fetched.

Someone on Hoobly was selling Peach Front hybrids? I'm not sure what the birds were hybrid with, and it was a while ago...

I would love to share a photo(s) of Petri on my Flickr account if you don't mind!

You can send a blood test and they can look at his dna and tell you his species! i don't know how much it costs though. you could look into that:)

Danny, as far as I am aware, there is no test in parrots to determine what species they are. Yes, they have it for dogs, but it has not been developed for parrots... unless you may know of something I don't?
