is it bad if i get a macaw from a breeder????

Why don't you go check out the bird shelter and see what they have? All the poor birdies need lots of TLC... since you're so experienced then why don't you get one that you thing no one will want, like a plucker or a special needs bird? Adopting another mac is a great choice. How about a GW or a B&G? Those are beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's exactly why Serena asked. If you read her initial post, you'd see she is even feeling guilty about even longing for a baby - and IMVHO, NOBODY should EVER feel guilty for either craving, wanting, or buying a baby bird.

So I have been to parrot rescues and seen all these unwanted birds everywhere especially the bigger guys like cockatoos, amazons, macaws, greys... but I got to hold a just weaned baby macaw and play with one and omg i fell in love it was so different than an adult one and I loved it! And I feel really selfish even thinking about it when there are so many needing homes :( But I would love to one day get another macaw and I would love a Shamrock Macaw baby from a really good breeder to raise and trian myself with no bad history or bad habits yet.... Idk I will probably get a rehomed one when I do get another one day but I would love a baby..... just wanted to know everyone elses thought about it. please no rudeness in the comments I know this can be a controversial topic.

There is nothing wrong with going for your dream. :) You only live once, and Serena is most definitely an EXAMPLARY parront to all her fids. :)

Give the bird a forever home and treat it perfectly and then it will be happy. :)

I have had a total of 3 from breeders 1cl and 3 pet store cockatiels and no matter how much I say I don't want another one I always end up getting another cockatiel. 2 of my breeder bought tiels weren't originally mine they were my stepmoms at the time but when she and my dad divorced a few years later she left thebbirds. The breeder they were from was horrible he kept them in a shed with 100 tiels crammed in various cages no windows an their only light was a heat lamp. The following month I got my first teil from a different breeder for my 11th birthday and I didn't know it at the time but he was given away way to young he wasn't even fully feathered all he had was his pin feathers and was still mostly bald I never could hand tame him and I didn't know I was doing it wrong until I got him a buddy off some ad somewhere a couple years later and found the site cocktiel cottage where I learned a great deal about them and still visit the site regularly I no longer have those 4 birds because when I was 15 my grades had slipped and so my dad got rid of them while I was at school. When I was 20 I was in Petco to hold the ferrets and saw Halloween and just knew I had to have her and there was another tiel there with her that somebody else thought I should have so she bought Hallows eve for me neither me nor Halloween ever bonded with him and ultimately I decided it was best to rehome him Halloween died a horrible dead that not even the vet understood how it occurred so last Monday I was in petsmart to get dog food and when I saw Speckles I again knew I had to have him I didn't realize though that he was sick til I came home and found him dead. The point to all this rambling is that when a bird is right for you you will know. Within 2 weeks of bringing home Halloween I was able to have her out of the cage and have her eating out of my hands. The bird will pick you and you'll know and then that will be the right place to buy your bird from.
