Parrots
blue male IRN - Blu
Hi all.

My IRN started attacking his toys recently and he is also growling at them. He does it few times a day, when he is feeling energetic. Also, when I showed him a parrot video today, he was screaming at it (he has a special squawk which he does when he doesn't like something) and then he went to his toy and started attacking it. Screaming is an old thing, but attacking toys started recently.
Do your parrots do this as well?
Thank you in advance

Salty , while not an IRN, will demolish a new toy in 1/2 hour, and I say GoodBoy! S'funny though - Salty loves IRN videos, and learns most of his words an phrases from them. Go figure.

The IRN growl is rather cute :)
I dunno, maybe he's angry with it....maybe he's having a wee conversation, either way I don't stress when I hear the sound. At my place if Henry hates something, it's the yell squark and avoidance route.
With the videos, it depends! Sometimes they yell, sometimes they kiss and sometimes they just talk back :)

sounds like he's having fun!

one of the very few things I'll liken to a dog but think how dogs get when you play with a tug toy with them, they growl non-stop but are having a whale of a time

Well, one more thing worth mentioning, if my phone is close to him while I'm playing some parrot videos, he will fly towards the phone, trying to attack it. I sometimes play them for him and hoping he will get used to it, since maybe, someday I will consider adding another parrot to the family.
I sure hope he is having fun doing this, but even if it is anger, it is better that he is taking it out on that "punching bag" than me. :D

Joey does this if he's angry, (like if he's awake and I'm not fully there awake yet) he'll stare at me for a couple of seconds and then grab one of his big toys, like the big blocks or the boing with the bell at the bottom, and slam it against the cage bars or just wildly back and forth.
