Just wanted to take the time to introduce our newly adopted fid, Pax the Indian Ringneck, aka Paximum. Pax is a 9 month old green IRN we adopted from a local bird sanctuary. He is very shy but loud at the moment, and is extremely active. He/she has not been sexed yet, but I look forward to helping him/her come out of his/her shell and learn to be a family bird! He's very cage-shy, and right now prefers to stay in his/her cage playing with toys rather than coming out to be social.

I cant see Pax either but he/she sounds like an Adorable little character and with time and patience and a little coaxing Pax will begin to venture out of his cage. Already from what you have said its clear Pax is settling in and getting to know his new home and family. Congrats on your new addition to the family :)

Congratulations! Pax sounds like a great addition to your flock and family. Enjoy the journey!

Your photo isn't showing up for me either.

You may have to click the link, I'm bad at uploading pictures. We are working on moving Pax from a seed diet that he had to a Zupreem and vegetable diet that we have at home, but he seems to be picking out the Zupreem pellets!

Such a cutie!

Hi, Pax is so handsome/pretty. Are you sure its an IRN and not an African Ringneck?? Only because his beak in the pic looks a lot darker than most IRNs. Still a cutie either way.

Are you sure Pax isn't an African Ringneck? They look a lot alike... mainly because he/she has a very dark beak for a 9 month old Indian Ringneck... mine is only 7 months and already had a beak lighter than yours. Regardless he/she is beautiful :D

I had no idea there was a difference...Pax was an adoption from a local rescue who had him listed as an Indian ringneck...are there any major concerns/issues differentiating them

Anyone have an opinion on this African Ringneck vs. Indian Ringneck thing with my bird?

Wow such an Amazing Magestic looking Parrot ...Pax you are Gorgeous. Congratulstions on adding such a lovely fid to your family, he's Beautiful :)

Not that I'm aware of... IRN are usually a bit bigger, and retain the darker beak their entire lives...

I read the ARNs are a lighter green than IRNs and that they are a few inches smaller. So far, your very handsome Pax looks like an ARN to me. Just my non-expert opinion.
