Hello all. I had a marvelous day today. I drove 3 hours from Morgantown, WV to Canton, OH to the Bird Nerds Rescue. If you haven't visited these guys, they are terrific. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely care about making a good fit for the bird and the new adoptive parents.

I drove here to adopt a Yellow Naped Amazon named Cheetuh, who we are calling ChiChi. She is 27 years old and a wonderful bird. I arrived to her making laughing noises. She was the most calm and collected bird in the place. The drive back was really nice, as she let me rub her feet and seemed to like the country music. Upon arrival at home she was a bit nervous, but once her cage was set up she stepped right up for my wife (after a few treats, of course). All night she has been stepping up for both of us, bowing her head for petting and scratching, and shoulder sitting. She also has been saying "hello" quite a bit, as well as "come on". She has mumbled other things but we weren't able to catch what they were. Anyway, here is the beautiful lady. I am glad she now has a forever home.

Congrats on your new baby! We go to Morgantown at the end of July every year for Mt. Fest. We live over in Hampshire County. Your new girl is beautiful. Look forward to hearing more about her as she gets used to her new home!

She's gorgeous! Congrats and thank you for taking in an older bird! Rescues are overflowing with Amazons, so it's nice to see someone choosing one when it happens :) One day I'll convince my husband that another parrot would be awesome, but it'll probably be a cold day in hell before I get him to agree to another 'zon :D

Yay! Congrats! My GCC is named ChiChi! Did you know it means "boob" in Spanish? Lol

Good looking nape, young looking too. Thanks for giving ChiChi a new home.

Many congrats on Cheetuh (Chi Chi). Great looking YN, and one lucky lady to have found a forever home. :)

So far so good with Chi Chi. When she got tired last night she went right to sleep and didn't make a sound all night. This morning, the wife went to get her out and Chi Chi was super excited to see her. The wife had made some oatmeal and Chi Chi had to have a taste and she loved it! Right now she is sitting on her perch by the front window watching the neighbors head off to work and school. I am spending some special time with Beaker down in my office this morning. Poor guy doesn't know what is going on!

Lol CA Jones.

The kids woke up and offered Chi Chi a slice of banana and she stepped up for them and ate it. I am totally shocked by how well she is already adjusting. I expected at least a number of days of timidness in the cage, but she has jumped right into this flock!

ChiChi continues to be a great addition to our family! She loves the wife and I, and really likes sitting on her perch on the main floor by the big windows. I gave her a bath the other night which she loved. She loves having her neck and head scratched. She has demonstrated no flying ability at all. Her wings are clipped but not so much that she shouldn't be able to fly. I will continue to monitor this. I will be going toy shopping this weekend for her, and I would like to get her a harness. When she first arrived she was a bit jumpy at sudden movements towards her with our hands to pet her or ask her to step up. She has never bit. These jitters seem to be gone now. I love her!
