They will both be joining me in the next couple of weeks. I've been waiting for Flash for about a month, for him to be old enough to bring home.

Crash, I saw up for adoption at the Parrot Rescue Centre. My application to adopt him was approved today, yay!

I am so excited to be bringing them both home soon.

I had already decided on Flash's name (Squadron Commander the Lord Flashheart) before I saw Crash, but it works out so awesome that together they are Flash and Crash.

gorgeous birds! congratulations.

is that a blue ring neck or violet?

Gorgeous birds. That periwinkle blue/violet color is my favorite color.

They are gorgeous! What a beautiful colour combination they are together. Congratulations!

Ooowah!!! I think Crash is the bird I've been watching on the Parrot Rescue Centre's home adoptions page! I'd very much like to get more ringnecks and have always got an eye out for ads etc. There are a few ringnecks on the PRC's page and my eye is on all of them - LOL!

Good for you in adopting Crash and I hope you, he and Flash are very happy! :) :) :)

Another gorgeous lutino IRN was added just yesterday too.

There are so many beautiful birds on there. I can see why parrot people end up with so many of them.

Wow they are super gorgeous congrats!!! Ringnecks are awesome birds

So this has turned into a bit of a journal entry...

It was 2 hours to where he was and such a hot day. I wasn't counting on that, even though I should have. But Crash took to drinking out of a water bottle (one with a sports top) very quickly so he stayed hydrated.

I put his playgym next to the carrier and his new playgym next to that and he came out by himself and made for the highest point.

He's supposed to be able to step-up, but he doesn't like my hands, so I bribed him onto a stick (favourite so far sunflower seeds in the shell) and moved him to see his new cage.

He went straight for the perch up the back and started playing with the toy there, plus I had put a leafy branch on top of the cage and he was nibbling the leaves off quite happily. So he knows how to entertain himself, which is good.

He seemed a bit of a gumby trying to get around the cage though, and as soon as he started playing with the shower curtain net I made, he put his head through one of the loops, so I had to take it out. He didn't want to climb down to where his food and water was either.

He didn't want to come out of his cage again, but he needed to move to his roost cage for the night so since I had to grab him to rescue him from the net, I brought him out. Once he was out he was happy to sit on my shoulder and get neck scritches and babble to me.

I had trouble getting him off my shoulder again (note to self, keep hair up around birds so they don't get tangled) so we might have stressed him a bit, but then he was back on the playgym and happy to preen for a bit.

So then I had to get him into his roost cage, but he was really lunging at our hands when we went anywhere near him. So I tried the stick again and he was willing to step up on that for sunflower seeds. He didn't want to be in his roost cage though - it's the cage he was living in before, so I thought he'd be ok with it, but apparently not. He climbed right back out again onto my hand while I was trying to put a toy in there for him.

But eventually I got him settled in the spare room which is nice and dark and haven't heard a peep out of him.

Hopefully, since he is so keen to come out of that cage, I'll be able to get him to step up tomorrow morning.

Discoveries so far: he likes sunflower seeds and apples, and likes the idea of peanuts but doesn't know how to open one. He can say hello (erro atm) and he chuckles. He likes destroying leafy branches and finger traps.

heeey!!! welcome to the forum! cute names!! where do you get such ideas, seriously?? :p

Gah! They're going to look so pretty together.

Also poor tiel in that previous pic, looks like he/she's think "hey genius, you're sitting on my head..."

Crash climbed out onto the top of his cage this evening, and had a nice time chewing up the paperbark branch I got him.

I hope so. The cage is big enough for 2. I'll see how they get on and go get a second cage if I need to.
