Yellow Side Green Check Conure
Hello everyone,

Me and my husband are planning on adding a new member to our family. Our first child is a beautiful Yellow-sided GCC named Kiwi, :rainbow1:she is super spoiled and gets away with everything... :) We have had Kiwi for a year now and we have got to know her pretty well. She has not been around other bird since we brought her home and I'm not sure how well it will go if we introduce her to a new sibling. I have done some research and have not gotten much from it. I have narrowed it down to two different kinds of parrots: another GCC or a Pacific Parrolet.

I have wanted a Pacific Parrolet for some time now and found someone close to me that well have a few babies ready in about a month. The GCC will most likely have to wait till next season because I want one from a specific breeder who I have been "watching" for a while now. (RainbowParrots.com)

I know that it is different for every parrot on how the interaction with a new parrot will go. I was wondering how many of your have introduced a new member to the family and how did it go? How long did it take for them to "get along"? How many still don't like each other?

And most IMPORTANT: How did you go about introducing them?

Anything will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I'd go with the assumption that they will not get along and plan accordingly and then if they do get along it's a bonus.

I have two sennies and a mac. None of them get along. I just make sure they all have their own space.

Very cute family and GCC!

Just like Karen said :).

Robin has always hated other birds, so I just kept him separate and made sure no one got close.
Raven is starting to accept Griffin. I've decided not to let Griffin bother Raven too much right now (in small doses), at least until he grows up a little and stops his "pesty little kid" stage.

I think Parrotlets are absolutely adorable. Either species you'll have lots of pretty colors to choose from. Good luck with your decision!

Thank you!!! We plan on each having their own cages, but we don't keep Kiwi lock up when we are home and I would like to be able to have them both out together. I guess we will see how it goes. :)

I bet you'll end up getting both! :D

lol I don't know about that.. it took me a while to convince my husband on adding a new member to our family. ha ha ha

A parrotlet would probably be one of the better choices with a GCC. Like the other have said ,i wouldn't plan on them getting along. IMO GCCs don't "share"well.
