Turquoise green cheek conure
Hey guys, at the moment I currently have a Turquoise Green Cheeked Conure called Nacho who I absolutley love. Hes a Small bird with a big personallity! However Im also interested in getting an Eclectus to live in the same room with Me and Nacho.

Nacho is only about 8 months old so I thought it would be better for me to get him another friend sooner rather than later while he is still young. Im sure he would enjoy the extra company throughout the day when im not there but im not entirely convinced they will get on with the size difference.

(The Eclectus will be a Hand reared chick)

What do you guys think?

Thanks:D

The only way to find out is to test it. In the beginning I think they should live in separate cages and when they are comfteble with that the let then interact outside the cage. I think that it is important to give Nacho as mutch attension as the new bird and att the same time otherwice the riskt is that Nactho get jalous

Hello & welcome.

I really can't see a problem with that. I am caring for a friends parrots for a few weeks & she has an adult male eclectus & sun conure that are cage mates & the get on really well. She only has had the eclectus for 1 year he's about 5 years old now. Not sure of the age of the sun but it is an adult. I guess it depends on the birds really whether or not they have that connection.

Although with any introduction always have a plan B in place.

I'd say the younger the better, IMO GCC can get rather opinionated as they mature.

Thanks for all your responses guys! Looks like Im gonna be getting another parrot then. :) Ill be sure to share pics when I can and let you know how it works out

If they don't get on then it will just mean them both having to have their own flying times rather than flying together (supervised ofcourse). Hopefully Nacho isn't too set in his ways yet.
