My grandmother went into cardiac arrest over the weekend and was declared brain dead Tuesday afternoon. The ambulance was called because the nursing home thought she had pneumonia. Once the ambulance arrived she went ashen and right into cardiac arrest in the ambulance. By the time she arrived at the hospital she was already gone but had minimal brain activity. So my uncle, mother, stepfather, and myself have been hanging around the hospital and home. Luckily we all handle sad moments with humor so it has been an interesting time with everyone. Plus, we were all up over 24 hours since none of us had been asleep when we got the call from the nursing home at around 12 am on Sunday.

My snakes arrived Wednesday morning so we all went to pick them up...my computer track pad completely died last night. It has been on the fritz for awhile but finally won't do anything I want it to do. I have my final summer college class to finish by Monday....so I ordered a new track pad to arrive today. Then, I have to finish a whole lot of class work and my final project before Monday....

Did I mention I'm babysitting the shelter Friday through Saturday??? I'm going to be completely exhausted by the time Monday night rolls around:52:

Oh and mothers macaw bit me yesterday afternoon....I thought I was going to kill him for a second there...he has been moody since he hasn't been out as much with everything going on. Mother asked me to put him away since he had been screaming and anxious. He stepped right up and then grabbed me right at the shoulder. He was way too close to the face so I just shook him off to the floor but for a second there I wanted to feed him to my big snake...

I am so sorry about everything you have faced this week and are facing this weekend. Go see one of the Chattering Lorries at the shelter and maybe that will help cheer you up. I really like those Chattering Lorries.

You have a great support group around you and I know that you will be there for each other.

Victoria, I am so sorry about your Grandmother. Please give your Mom a big hug from me and keep one for yourself.
It sounds like you have a full plate this week, but please take time to take care of yourself as well. You're all in my thoughts.

Victoria, deepest condolences to you and your family, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother.

I hope your mom's macaw didn't hurt you too much, I'm glad you didn't feed him to your snake in the heat of the moment, you would have regretted it....later.

The shelter Fids will be thrilled with your visit this weekend and it will be a great distraction for you.

You and your family are in my thoughts, Victoria.

I am very sorry for your grandmother and your family. It must be very hard with all these other stresses as well. You are in my thoughts as well. *hugs*

Victoria, I am so sorry to hear of what's happened with your grandmother. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

And like Terry, could you also pass a hug your mother's way for me as well?

Wishing you the best with catching up on your school work by Monday. Given all that's going on, between your grandmother and your obligations at the center, I imagine it won't be very easy.

Oh. And great show of restraint with your mom's macaw!

Thanks everyone!

I just wasn't in the mood for a misbehaving macaw the other day but he lived...

I just replaced my trackpad and my macbook pro lives once again! I've had it for 5 years now and one trackpad and battery replacement isn't too bad for maintenance! Of course I've also replaced the keyboard but that was parrot destruction related....

That is a lot going on in a short period. My wife and I will definitely be praying for you.

Victoria, I am so very sorry about your grandmother :(. Big hugs. It helps that you have strong family support. Hang in there.
