Aleta is constantly trying to get to our teeth. She will pull on our lips trying to get our mouths open so she can see our teeth. My boyfriend refers to it as a "chicklet inspection" :D She likes to tap on them and give them a little tug before moving to the next one. She has actually put her whole head into Chris' mouth spun her head backwards so she can check out his upper teeth! Sounds like something you'd see in the Flintstones

Anyone else have a bird aspiring to be a dentist??

Thats cute. She probably wants to see if she can find some "treats" in there.

She may really enjoy doing that, but birds shouldn't have too much contact with our saliva. Naturally, I feel like a huge hypocrite here saying that, as Kiwi gives me millions of kisses every day and I'll bite off something I'm sharing with him, but the general school of thought is to keep them away from lips/mouths. Then again, I wonder how much of that has to do with people who have poor oral hygiene rather than your average person who doesn't harbor infectious diseases in their mouth;)

Lol well I certainly don't let her in my mouth. Gross. I know where those little feet have been. I wouldn't put things off the floor or dogs into my mouth, and she spends quality time on both. :p

My white-eared, Kiwi, is the same way! She's trained not to touch glasses/piercings, so she stays away from our lip/ear piercings, but she'll try to get to my boyfriend's teeth.. he'll open his mouth, then as soon as she goes for it he chomps down!(Never close enough to accidentally catch her, of course!) I'm sure she thinks it's a game.. I don't let her get that close to my mouth, except for kisses, but it sure is hilarious watching them play their little game.. hah.

You got you a bona fide tooth fairy! Chickens are fascinated by teeth, too. When I was a kid I had a parakeet who liked to inspect your teeth. Of course now I know my mouth is full of bacteria that may do harm so I keep the tooth inspector limited to my incisiors only!

Lol! Aleta and I may have to have a little chat about being a tooth fairy, she is missing a vital component - no presents! Poop does not count! She leaves enough of those "presents" lol :D

Chickens too eh? Can't imagine letting one close enough to my face to find out! Yikes!

One of my in-laws has a Quaker who actively eats out of his mouth. When he starts eating, the bird gets on his chest and picks at his lips and eats off of his lips if he shares. It's not just conures!

Sootie does this too! She's very bold and will actually climb up your face to get inside your mouth if you open wide enough. Glad it's not just her!!

Christine, that sounds adorable:) Mine are not very interested in teeth, thank goodness, cause I definitely agree with you about where their little feet have been..lol.
