- i am the mom of three parrots:
Dorothy- African grey (cag)
Bowie- blue and gold macaw
Nellie- hyacinth macaw
Reggie- hyacinth macaw
Marnie- white bellied caique
I took Kiwi to the vet today to have her neck lump rechecked. The vet was amazed at her progress! He said he could tell how much calmer/at ease she was! I started telling him that my dream had always been to own a grey however I didn't want to do anything that would upset Kiwi. He said that he thought it would be great for Kiwi to have another bird in the house! She came from a home with two other birds. Of course I would keep her in a separate cage however he felt that if the cages were about 8-10 feet apart it would help Kiwi almost learn what play, healthy food etc. is all about. I said that I had been trying to get her to play etc. He told me how to introduce the new cage, bird etc. Well of course I got in my car and drove to the breeder and put a deposit on a baby CAG! I had been talking to my husband about this for a long time and we had decided to talk it over with the vet. I felt like it was a good time, the breeder has several available. I would prefer a female, he is getting them dna'd today we should have the results by Friday! Even if they both turn out to be males I am going to go for it. I would love input on he differences between the two. I have been reading everything I can about them and there seems to be slight differences however it is hard since every bird is truly an individual. I am attaching pictres of the two nest mates I am choosing between.
Here is the smaller of the two about to have lunch!
Here is the larger (this is the one I loved, however not sure on sex & not sure why this one stuck out to me)
Here they are snuggling!
