Look at this girl!African Grey Parrot
She looks so well cared for and I feel so bad for her owner.
I kinda want to call her but
1. We are still adjusting to one parrot, who is still adjusting to us...
but-Pepper was in a home with two other greys and they got along wonderfully.
2. I'm sure the rehome fee is significant and we just spent lots on Pepper so we wouldn't have the rehome fee
but-she said she'd consider reducing or trading...
Gaah, I just really hope somebody can take her! Part of me wants to call the gal and tell her to put us on a back up plan to meet her if she can't find anyone else. But I don't know how that bird would get along with Pepper. "Or with the kiddos-but there's a toddler ride-on toy in one shot which makes me think the bird is around kids occasionally. We'd also have to screen our doors because she is flighted. But I know we'd have the time and patience to deal with her.

Am I being nuts? Talk me out of this.

I would love to talk you out of it but I find myself doing the same thing. I already asked to be a back up plan for someone even though I have only had Kawie since April and otherwise have no experience but I LOVE him and it just grows and grows!

if you have time for her and commitment as well plus a space in your house and heart. then do you have the money for this trade then go for it.
otherwise wait until you are ready. money is least important, more important is that you must have time and commitment

If the bird is bonded to a man that would be perfect...hubby is a bit jealous of Pepper's preference for me. He'd love it if a bird liked him best.

Nah , seriously ,you have bird -itus ....it's very contagious and lasts a lifetime



If you feel that you have the time ,money and room in your heart , GO FOR IT !

But , give it some serious thought. With one bird you can dote on him and really form a special bond and spoil the heck of him . With multiple birds , it's extremely possible to do the same , I have done it , but it's also a lot of work . Just another thing to consider.
This is the best advice I can give you
Good luck with whatever you chose to do , us nuts will be here for you , lolol.

I think the both of us went from one bird to four in just a couple of heartbeats , lolol. We should not be allowed to talk to the newbies about getting more birds.

IMPO, Good rule of thumb is to allow any new bird to acclimate for a full year and then add another at that time if you still feel like you could handle two. You've only had this one for such a short time, I would talk you out of getting a second one so soon. My opinion to be to hold off for a year and then see whats around. Its easy to get overwhelmed and you want to be fair to your first bird as well. Its a hard thing to do but I see so many people get in over their head by adding too many birds in a short amount of time.

Hmm, my bet is she will find somebody pretty easy. For that money you get some great cages, playstand, and a healthy, happy, talking bird. I doubt she'll be around long.

I tried my bird's Zupreem. I was dying to know if the different colors tasted different because she eats all the red ones first-they tasted the same to me, and NONE of them tasted like chocolate! :-(

I keep looking everyday even though I cant afford one till after Christmas. Then I will find one that I want and get mad at myself cause I can't get it yet while cursing myself for looking. Then I will go on to the next add and rinse and repeat. lol.
