Welcome to the forum!

No, but they're BEAUTIFUL!

How do you take care of them? They're poisonous, no? If so, can you handle them or?

Lovely!

I don't own any, but I used to care for and breed Blue poison darts :)

Live in Australia now, where you can't get them.

You can't touch them, but really you shouldn't handle any frog species with your bare hands, their skin is extremely sensitive and vulnerable.

We should clarify. Poison dart frogs aren't poisonous in captivity. You could in theory hold and touch them, but you shouldn't. It's not good for the frog.

Hello and welcome!

My boyfriend would love nothing more than to own a Dart Frog, however I believe that they are illegal in New York. (im not sure if they are or not. He thinks they are tho)

I don't think they are illegal in NY State. You may have to obtain a permit, but nothing more. :)

I heard that before, I can't remember where. Think it has to do with their diet I the wild.

thanks guys!
they really aren't that difficult to care for. plus with all the modern tech out there, they become practically care free, if you have the money for the timers and auto misters and such. i still use a misting bottle. haha

but no, in captivity the frogs are not poisonous. ive read they obtain their venom through the ants they would naturally eat in the wild. ?

you could, i have touched them. but as the other guys have said touching them is not so good. just because amphibians skin is very crucial to their survival.
moisture retention o2 yad yada the natural oils and salts on humans hands can funk with them. =P
but the are really interesting pets.
the fruit flies are a tad tedious. but worth it to me. they show much more brains than i ever would have expected from a frog, even come up to the glass like pups when i walk in to beg for food.

Ooh I LOVE Dart Frogs!! I especially love the kind you have, and the blue ones. I used to have the related Mantellas.

Well there you go, I didn't realise you could touch them! (Hey, I'm a bird person, not an amphibian person.
