I have to agree. I'm all for 'meetings' with the birds, but to take part in daily activities, etc that just sap up too much of your time.
What if you have a bird at home already and you're having to sacrifice time with that bird to travel+volunteer at the rescue?
I too am unwell and couldn't afford the extra energy of travelling, spending an entire day, etcetc. with work during the week and my own fids at home to look after.
I could however take on another addition, with no added expense in energy for me, but I wouldn't be given a chance by the rescues people are describing.
Why don't the rescue send people to come visit me, in my home, and see how I am with my birds - surely that gives them a better idea of how I'll care for the newcomer, but the same thing applies - THEY cannot afford to send people out to peoples homes, because THEIR birds need time, etc.
It's all a bunch of poop.
