So after about three months, Iago is doing great! He has come a long way, though. From the start it was obvious that he used to be a well cared for bird. He stepped up quickly and displayed lots of interest.
It's taken time for him to play, though. I've had to be creative. I've made newspaper forests for him, toys from empty cardboard boxes, all homemade. He is very standoffish of store bought toys so far.
He has always loved his pellets and doesn't care much for seed, to our delight. However he's picky with fruits and vegetables. I work to make foraging toys out of food and that helps. What a prince!
Now, my son who is 22 is beginning to feed him, offer treats, attempting to become friends. So far, so good. Iago is still wary but accepts treats and toys from him.
So there is life after rescue with time and patience.
Any more counsel from all the experts? I'm always gleaning from you all. Thanks so much.
