Thanks all. Well it's been a few days now and we ate getting to know each other. From what I can gather he has never been out of his cage. He was handreared and has been left ever since!! He's is a very active boy and is already taking food from my hand all be it through the bars ATM but we ate getting there. At first he panicked as soon as I stood up from the sofa bless him and ended up climbing up to the opposite side of the cage. Now he stays on his perch whilst I talk to him and is even sounding back to me now.

Great to hear of the progress he is making. Keep up with the slow interactions, offer him plenty of tasty treats, and he should come around :) 5 years in a cage poor guy!

Thank you!!! I'm trying g a few times a day he is petrified of just about everything but he is amazing he has an awesome personality . I don't think he has been given food big enough to hold in his hands either as he is finding that a struggle but we are getting there xxx

That is great! You can always chop up foods so he can hold them better, too! :)

Now that I'm awake, and NOT reading your post title as 'I will be an illegal macaw owner tomorrow', Congratulations! I wish the both of you many long years together :)
