about getting bishop a Scooter Z Reversible Snugglie and i was wondering what size i should get, or should i get him another kind of bed? what are you guys idea on it. if i do get it i check it every day for lose strings. i think he would like it for now he like to sleep hanging on the side of the cage.

Why don't you get one of those hanging tents at a pet store, just make sure you check it for lose threads.

sorry I have no input our breeder told us not to use any type of houses like that. We bought one too and took it out before we put her in it. And I don't have the receipt or packaging so I just ate $14 on that bed now.

As long as Bishop isn't a girl there shouldn't be a problem with having a tent.

Our breeder said he has only had 3 problems with birds being aggressive and unsociable and one family brought their bird back even because it became feral basically from being unhandleable. In the cage was a happy hut and the bird never wanted to leave his house. Just out of curiousity he emailed the other 2 bird owners and asked if they also used one of the happy huts and both said yes and that their birds loved them and were always in them. After removing the hut from the cages Tue families were able to socialize and handle their birds after retaming them somewhat.

I would rather be safe than sorry I took ours out of the cage the night we brought JJ home, before putting her in the cage even.

My personal recommendation is the tent from Sunrise Solutions Home
I had previously tried three other "tents" and Molly would not use them. Once I put the hidensleeps tent in the cage Molly began doing summersaults in the doorway. She loves it. It is more expensive but shes worth it. :) BTW, I got the medium and it is perfect.

Another BTW, when I open the cage Molly still comes running to me and she still uses her whole cage.

Word of caution: A user here recently posted about losing their bird to one of those "Happy Huts." The poor thing strangled herself with a lose thread. From what I remember, it happened overnight so checking it daily wasn't enough.

Ohhh! Ok then mabey you shouldn't use one. My pair have had it for years and haven't had problems though.

It's definitely risky. They also encourage egg laying. So if you have a single female bird, it may increase the risk of egg binding issues.

I know not many people have problems with their birds becoming "wild" from using those I know I never heard of it when I bought ours but it seems like a valid point too when I thought about it.

o i see i thought it be better for him then hang on the side of the cage to sleep. he has many perches but do not use them to sleep. i do not want him to go wild from it and am not 100% sure if he is a boy (am going to get him DNA) thanks for you input i do not want to put his life in danger. but i hate seeing him hang on the side at night

Well mabey that's just the way he likes to sleep. Have you tried rope perches? Some birds like them to sleep on because they are soft.

yes he has a rope perch and that's one he sleeps next too:eek:

Our GCC sleeps by hanging on the side of the cage, too. I've read that a lot on here from other users as well. They seem to prefer it for some odd reason. But we're humans who need pillows to sleep, so what the heck do we know? lol
