I've decided to bring home the 7 month old Panama Amazon! So very excited! If all goes well, he should be here towards the end of this week!

I'm having so much fun shopping and preparing. My son is going to make him a manzanita stand so that he can have a place to hang out near us as much as possible. I found a place locally that carries the branches wholesale. He's going to prune and sand it all out smoothly for our new baby.

Which toys are absolute 'must have' toys for Zons?

WOHOOOOO!!!!! MANY, many congrats!!!! :D I am SO excited for you/with you! YAY!!!! How exciting!!!

My Amazons LOVE shredding things, so I always have at least one shredder toy in their cage...like this one:
Planet Pleasures Flower Tower Large - SHREDDABLE TOYS by MY SAFE BIRD STORE

My Sam LOVES to swing and dangle, so he has a rope orb...let me see if I can find a picture somewhere....
King's Cages - Avian and Pet Bird Cages, Supplies, Food, Toys, Perches, Aviaries, Pluck No More

And then anything wood....AND foraging...mine both have this one:
Reinforcement Foraging Wheel by Creative Foraging - FORAGING TOYS by MY SAFE BIRD STORE

Oh my gosh...how are you going to stand it until the end of the month? I know, I know...you'll be SO busy getting everything ready. :D

Congrats!
Zons are fun, prepare to laugh all the time.... :)
I found that the fav thing for my smaller Zon is a long string with popsicle sticks. She chews through all of them in just 30 minutes or so.
Just make sure to remove a string so your baby doesn't get caught on it. Sometimes I just use a SS rod to skew popsicle sticks on it, then I don't have to worry.
A toy with some cotton strings is a nice thing to have, they love to chew on them too...good thing is that they clean their beaks on it.

Empty pizza box! You could stuff it with other things if you want. My amazon and macaw love destroying them.

Thanks! I've only been a parront to duskies and GCC's, so this is going to be a BIG deal.:smile001:

I appreciate all your great ideas! Love that Orb thing! And pizza boxes? Never thought they could be used as a great parrot toy! Guess you have to become creative to help keep the costs down.

Popsicle stick toys would be a fun project for my kids to create for him.

Just finished purchasing his cage, Java tabletop stand, all the toys recommended in this thread (and then some), a book on making stimulating parrot toys, and different varieties of perches for inside his cage. Once his cage arrives I I'll be set to get him!

I feel like I'm expecting a baby or something. LOL!:1218:

That's because you are. ;) Congrats! I am very excited for you! Can't wait to see pics! :D

Congrats with the pending arrival of your Panama! Wow. I bet you are excited and READY to bring him home. I have been looking into Panama amazons for a while now and really think these amazing birds would be a good fit for our family and flock. Can I ask where you are getting your Panama from? As you know they are not a very easy parrot to find that is a pure bred Panama amazon. Because so little were imported they tend to be cross bred with yellow front. I would like to move forward and begin my research of Panama breeders.

My third flock member may take about a year and half before it will be a reality but until then I continue to research and look into a lot of different parrots. I can't wait to see pictures of your baby.

Congratulations on your new baby!!! I can't wait to see all the pictures! Dont forget to show us all the toys and fun stuff you've set up for him! :D

Oh, good one! I've got that one bookmarked now. Thank you!!

Mine love big cardboard boxes. They see me carrying one into the birdroom and they all stand on the edge of the platform, leaning forward for it.
