I mean, is it normal for it to want to get out after only being with us for 24 hours? When I got in he was going crazy at the front of the cage moving back and forth chirping very excitedly (not loud in the slightest) so I opened the door. I held my arm to him and he hopped on. He then flew around the room and landed on the mirror, I called him and after a couple of attempts he flew to my arm and we made a game of it, we did this several times for about 10 minutes and each time I called him he was responding quicker each time. I lavished praise on him and I gave him an almond bit

Each parrot is an individual. Some take days or weeks to acclimate, some like your guy jump into the pool on day 1. Thats a great start to a relationship.

I was expecting weeks, not 24 hours, he's fabulous though. When should I begin training?

When should 'you' begin training? Looks like your guy has already started training you! :D

Looks like you two are well underway. Just remember to keep it at his rate!

Of course. He also likes my hubby, used his glasses as a convenient perch at one point and kept trying to nip his nose!

If s parrot settled in and want to be with , yes have them out enjoy! No reason to keep in the cage, birds are social.
Happy for you

I am just amazed at how quickly he's settled in, like he's always lived with us and it's only been 2 days.

You are lucky. I've had my parrotlet for 9 years and while he is basically finger-tame, very sociable/interactive and happy ..... he sometimes still is not totally convinced that I'm not going to eat him!

He also is quite fascinated with my glasses as either a perch or chew toy.
