I ordered the flight suits! I can't wait for them to come! Its sorta like Xmas... Yipee! Now hopefully Bella and Zora won't hate them. Does anybody have any tips about getting your birds used to flight suits? Just wanted to ask in case anybody had some advice. Thank you. =)

I haven't done it myself. But the blog I found had a lady introducing harnesses to her two caiques. She would make a loop from the leash and have the birds get accostomed to putting their head through the hole, and they'd get a treat each time. She started with a loose hole and then got smaller and smaller. She worked her way up from that to the entire harness.

Thank you! Do you possibly have a link?

Haha, well, I'll have to at least try.

Trust me it will be fun. Maybe yours will do better. No matter how many times I put Forrest's on he would constantly reach around and try to chew on it. He didn't do much else. Couldn't even enjoy being outside with me. My daughter's Gcc was the same in fact when they were together they tried to relieve each other of their "backpacks". LOL

Well, I'm not sure. I know a breeder and a lot of her birds don't mind getting them on, but then again every bird is different. I'm going to take it slowly until they are used to seeing it, then touching it, etc. And if they don't like them (or absolutley DESPISE them) that's ok too... I'll just have to live with the fact that they don't like them. I'm honestly ok either way.

The instructional video goes into depth on how to get your bird used to it. Its quite a long process. Wasn't too bad getting it on, but getting it off was traumatic for both Tate and I! I won't be trying it again unless absolutely necessary... But good luck!

Thanks MissyMe. Hopefully they won't mind them too bad. =)

I started Forrest at a very young age. He was used to it but never quit bugging him and was always chewing at the part on his back. Now I used it to keep him off the TV.....likes to perch on flat screen and now he won't go near it. LOL I just hang the flightsuit on top. It is a bird repellant.

Lol! Well, they're 4 months old and 3 days EXACTLY so not very young but better than, say, an 11 year old...
LOL on your story!
