Lookin for a new friend!
I know they "say" and mean that you cant use alot of smell goods in your home when owning birds.. My home is not stinky but i enjoy when it smells nice. I usually use air wick plug ins. I just didn't know if there was something that was smelled nice but wasn't going to kill my bird...any help

lol....this is something we all battle with!

I don't think anyone in the UK has managed a solution yet!!!! In other countries there are gum leaves etc but not here really!

I have a lot of fresh flowers and cotton wool with a few drops of essential oil (literally 2) behind the radiators in the rooms that Cal is never anywhere near.

So far, that's about it!

You might find this strange and laugh but it works for us in our apartment.
I break up a cake of Dettol Hygiene soap, place small pieces into little holders, then hide them wherever I wish. Whenever walking into a different room, it always smells fresh and cool almost like The clean smell lasts for about 2 months, then I replace them.
Good luck

For an "intstant" solution boil some water with some vanilla for about 30 minutes, the smell will linger for hours. It really works but expect everyone in the house to come running when you put it on.

Well hopefully Potpourri is safe, I've been using them for many years, even before I had birds, and have never heard or read anything negitive, basicly just dried flowers, fruits and herbs that give off a pleasent and subtle scent :)

Great Idea Bobby... we all know you are the Man... so I will be getting some.

I know during the holidays my Mon use to take orange peeling, apple peeling, Cinnamon and vanilla and boil it and them set it on the back of the stove... Always smelled so good..

I sure miss her and those days.

I often boil spices, and orange peel...especially if I've cooked something and the smell lingers. I hate the house smelling of fish, lobster, cabbage etc.

THANKS everyone! looks like i will be going to buy some spices today.

just tossing my 2 (s)cents in: I feed my bird whole star annise seed pods as a treat. She loves them, and they smell like licorice! The whole bird room smells yummy and sweet, and so does she :)

the only warning I've heard about potpouri is to make sure the stuff you use is chemical free and don't let the birds eat it.
