My youngest son Steven is in Cape Town, doing an Internship with Sports Illustrated Magazine for two weeks, he left on Wednesday this week.
Being the weekend he got very adventurous
He e-mailed me the following
That's me standing on top of table That's me standing on top of table mountain
Last night was fun, we went to the waterfront and watched the sharks game, then to long street and a few places there. Glad I'm not staying there, very noisy and busy.
Today jedi had to work so I could explore by myself. I walked down to the beach and along the promenade, I ended up at the waterfront and went to the aquarium and walked around. I then thought I should go to table mountain as the weather was quite clear. So I walked in the general direction of the mountain, and then after 1.5 hours and 6.4ks of walking up hills, I think I walked up half the mountain, I arrived. I had no energy left so I took the cable car up, R200 so not too bad. Table mountain is amazing, got loads of pics. I walked around 3 times taking it all in, and after 2 hours I went back down.
Still feeling adventurous and more energetic, I thought I'd walk home a different route. On the mountain I saw a long windy road along signal hill heading towards where I stay, so I took that one. The road had amazing views and little viewing spots. When I got to the other end of the road, it stopped at a nature reserve (go look at signal hill on google maps and you will see the road). So I was in line with the flat, just about 1k above it stuck on a hill. So not wanting to walk all the way back and around I trekked down the hill (nomad style) and eventually made it home. I then went to the beach to watch my first sunset over the ocean. Was quite nice... Until the waves hit the pier and I got showered with this dirty foam from the sea. It somehow managed to miss all the locals so they all had the chance to laugh at me afterwards...bastards .
Tomorrow jedi is taking me to hermanus, to see some whales (hopefully not just fat chicks) and a bit of the wine lands.
Don't worry I have pictures to match all the stories I've told you..
