That's great! I hope he brings you lots of joy :)
I'm looking at your play gym/perch thingy you have set up against the wall..
Did you make it?
I would love see more photos of it to get some ideas.. I would like to make some kind of stand/perch/play gym thing for my galah's to play on when they're out of their cages.

It is home made but not by me! The guy I got him from made it. I'll take some more pics of it later for you :). It is good, but he'd rather sit on me and try and eat my phone than on the stand!

Congrats! Such a beautiful bird and already in good hands even though you are new to parronthood:) I agree with the others that you have an expert level set up! I wouldn't mind spending time in that cage:D

This is a late comment, but congrats on your Galahs! I love galahs so much, they are just amazingly beautiful, smart, and fun pets! And I'm also very sorry for you loss, I've always wanted to own a horse. It must be exiting having a new bird in your house! Again, congratulations! :D

Mcongrats on your new baby!!

I swear, other people's cages give me such envy and guilt. They always look well thought out. It seems like no matter how I try to plan, my cage always looks like - to steal a quote from the timeless Will and Grace - overstuffed bigness. That, or underdone and sparse.

Guilt is Pulling your bottom tray out and having the cage look like a snow globe inside. I know I need to stay on top of it when he is molting. Missed one night and zap Its snowing

Such a beautiful Rose Breasted! I'm sure you too will be happy together! :)

Your Galah is exquisite, and his large cage is like that of a parrot Disneyland! So many choices to play, hide, and sleep!!

Thank you for all the lovely comments!
Unfortunately his cage now looks a lot less fun as I have had to remove almost everything (any suggestions on tying toys to the bars without the metal clips but in a way that he won't be able get undone in 2 seconds?)!

New larger cage is being ordered tomorrow, and I will be looking into importing a stainless steel cage from the states for him as he has zinc and lead poisoning :(

I am worried about Justines weight as well. Even though she is still a baby she seems fine. Every time I go to the store on the weekend with her I always weigh her. last week she was at 439Kg. I asked the store rep and they said that is perfectly fine. She is on a seed diet with some bits like a few pieces of rice or maybe somethign a little bigger but not much and sometimes a treat that is just a Peanut butter pretzel. But I limit her to one small piece every day or one every other day or two. they sad do not over do it on the peanut butter treats because it could be bad.

I am also worried that she is not drinking water from her bowl in the cage. when I take her out I get a cup of water and she drinks from it but the water in the bowl seems just to sit and change color like it has been sitting for a while even thogh I wash the bowl and full with fresh water every day.

Nothing wrong with buying them if you love them and take care of them....

Looks like a very happy bird to me!!!

Some parrots use their drinking water bowl for entertainment and make a "soup" from food, bits of chewed wood, and on occasion unintentionally use it as a loo.
Many of mine seem to wait until it is freshly changed and drink. In any case, most parrots do not consume large quantities of water, especially if they enjoy consuming fruits and vegetables. (items high in water content)

Zoe gets those snapped in about 2 seconds. We have to use stainless steel zip ties

What a beautiful galah! You obviously did your research and it sounds like he's got a good home. Here's where the fun begins. Enjoy!

I don't think I've ever heard of stainless steel ties but I'll have a look and see if I can get them if plastic cable ties don't work for him :D

I get mine from Amazon. They use them on cars. I use them for my terrorist that can take apart anything [emoji23]

Sorry to hear about the zinc and lead poisoning! how do they know? a blood test? Are there symptoms? My aviary is galvanised, and before she moved in, I did wash it down with Vinegar to neutralised the galvanising, but I still worry!

It was a blood test. He was having various symptoms (shivering, bright green poo and various other things that on their own wouldn't have been worrying). I don't know which symptoms are from which thing with him having a few different issues and many of the symptoms over lapping with different conditions.

He was tested for an array of different things.

The cage he was in prior to me getting him (the guy had two cages I could pick from, I took the one with no rust!), was very rusty which we are thinking is the cause of the zinc poisoning :(

His new cage is being delivered today or tomorrow, to give me some breathing space to get a stainless steel one imported for him.
