I didn't know that here in the States a GALA Cockatoo goes by Rosebreasted Cockatoo ... I was in the little pet store down the street and they had a grey cockatoo with a bright pink belly and it was labled "rosebreasted" and I was talking to the knowledgeable person there (she really is, and if you talk to her for just two minutes you know it ... ) and I told her that I though that it was mislabled ... she said she was sure it wasn't ... so I come home and I find out that we are both correct ... just a different name for the same bird.

Lol Minzers going to have great fun with you and the title of this thread....
Yep, both sulphurs and galahs are probably the most commonly kept large parrots here, and it took me ages to figure out that the second name, the rose breasted cockatoo, is just as common in other parts of the world. The lady I was talking to said Galahs are fantastic pets in comparison to their crazy cousins. They are gorgeous don't you think?
Just out of interest, how much was a galah over there? I wonder if you pay for galahs and cockatoos what we pay for greys, amazons and macaws.

it was listed at $2,000 ... but that shop is always a touch high on the prices of their birds ... bet I could find one for $1,500 from a breeder ...

The first kind of parrot I developed a "crush" on was a rose-breasted too .... first bird I ever touched too ... I'd love to have one, but definitely not right now. Maybe one day though ...................

Lol, I get picked out before I even say anything! And Iggy just finished screaming his lungs out at the fireworks, and I'm trying not to cry, so I have nothing witty right now...Chi needs to be here for backup!

I figured it out at the zoo last year - The people said you can't import them form Australia anymore so that is why they are a bit high for their size and such - because we are limited to what we already have in the states

I have no idea how much galahs are over here in canada.. im positive i looked it up before but i will again!

Peta lives in England by the way, not America.

I knew Peta was English, but Tex is American and the other day Peta was busy with breeds and currency comparisions :) I edited my previous post to make more sense :)

Yes, I do like to know how much the different currencies are in £, We are now getting members from all over that I have to find out more currencies, :D I always have my little currency converter up as the same time as being on line. :D

We seem to be so expensive here for almost everything, :(

prices vary so much even in the states for example I could get a sun anywhere from 225 from a good breeder to 600 from a pet store

Yes, Tex is American, and I am an American with very limited internet right now ... I haven't been on because the connection in the hotel is giving me trouble ... I will get on when I can, hopefully I can get this issue resolved later tonight ...
