I just couldn't say no...

Poor, poor baby! People do such terrible things in their endless quest for self-gratification! Thank goodness you found her! She might have ended up in a basement breeder's house with all the cons she had going against her.

Thank you everyone for your warm replies and the great suggestions! I sure do appreciate it and have lots to consider!

I have to find her a name soon. She can't go around being called 'blue chicken' forever. But naming a pet that will outlive you is a lot like naming a child. I have several in mind and you all have given me several more to think about!

Maybe someday I'll go back to working in rescue. I'm just still so angry at the bird club I worked with, that unless they change some of their practices, I shall not support them. This is the main reason I looked in local ads for another macaw vs going through my local rescue organization. I know I could have gotten a bird for less through them, but money wasn't an issue and I wanted THE bird, not A bird. I think I found a good fit. :)

What a beautiful and touching story! I literally had tears of joy rolling down my face as you described her bath and preen. It's absolutely wonderful of you to give her a loving home.
