I have to say...

:D This forum is much like coffee, so addictive you just want more and more
Find yourself going on "quickly" just to "look", then you reply to a post then another and another and it never stops.
I am so fortunate to be a part of this fantastic forum, for just over a year now.
My laptop is on from 5am, to "check in" I work from home, spend about an hour, then work, then "peep" then work. You just can't help it :11:
Through "our birds" I have made friendships for life, people who have become very dear and precious to me.
Having daily contact with "bird crazy" people, makes my life complete. ;)
Ps... My guys Sean and Steven would love to know how many hours I have spent of the forum :11: best they don't know Lol

Yes this is a great forum and although I'm relatively new I already feel like I belong. Having said this (and I am talking from experience here) it only takes 1 rogue poster to upset the family feel of a forum and to upset the fine balance which seems to exist in binding us all together. I have previously been a member of another forum, I was there for over a year until someone on that forum decided to have "issues" with me, I could have stood my ground and hung around but it just didn't feel the same and I left. I made some good friends there though some who are "friends" on my facebook account and one of whom is visiting me in a few weeks time from the US so I can relate to what Antoinette has said.

send out those friend requests, get on each others buddy lists, get to know each other better, don't think of it as a clique, but as a network of folks that can confide in each other on a more personal level instead of always feeling the only way of communicating is in the public forum, and in this way if someone gets under your skin or makes you feel uncomfortable you can vent to your friends and not just leave because of it, when you leave its not only you that feels bad, but its also the friends that you left behind...........:31:

This is the perfect place for anyone who loves, appreciates and enjoys parrots. For me, it's also a great opportunity to learn more about the different types of parrots that I'm less familiar with-- so many kinds are represented here. It's also nice to be surrounded by people who understand how and why anyone could devote so much time and energy to giving a parrot all of the care and attention it deserves. People who have never lived with parrots just don't get it-- and they haven't got a clue about what they've been missing!

Oh so true.

I do like the idea of a chat room but how would it be moderated during the chats? You know people can be very inappropriate is chat room settings.

As much as I love chatting, I don't think it would be appopriate on a forum such as ours.
Firstly we would be chatting away, distracting us from what the forum is here for.
Secondly, even if we are chatting about our birds, we could be sharing it with others, who might have the same question, and might be able to assist.
Thirdly, there have been problems even with PM's, members corresponding with other members, getting upset, leaving the forum, and running the forum down.
