I have a sun conure that seems to be in love or lust with me. She must be right next to me every waking moment or will cry out all most nonstop. And when I mean right next to me I mean on my shoulder usually trying to reach my face or ear where she constantly nibbles, bites and grooms. When I sit or lay down this becomes more extreem. She often backs up to my face and tries to ( this is a little gross) press her rear to me. It is getting super obnoxious. I have troube reading, meditate, or watch a movie. I have trouble doing any activity in my house without her constantly calling or on top of me frantically grooming. She is basicly frantic to be right on my face all the time. She basically ignores everyone else and only let's them touch her if she thinks she might be able to claw her way to me and basically nonstop groom my face. it is very bizarre and I am not sure what to do. I love the little thing but she seems out of controle. What should I do?

How old is she? Lucy will be 5 months in July and she is always preening my hairs and licking my face. I would not take it as overly in love, but just a loving bird. Be happy, some people on here can't even get their birds to come out of their cages.

I would distract the bird (toys or food) otherwise she will be persistent and think you are playing with her when you move her off.

I have a sun conure i actually got for my daughter however the little fellow took to me because i fed him, played and acted a fool to teach him to dance...screech won't go to anyone unless i place them on him..

he also screeches loudly, its gotten better, he was non stop screeching hense his name LOL however i did upgrade his cage, when i got him i got a cage they said was good, but on craigslist i found a nice one with a top play stand its like 6 ft tall this cage. I was able to get more toys in there now he is quieter but has more to explore and play with.. screech is very active I have found he loves play puzzles and i hang those in the play area..I pull him out for about 4 hours a day then leave his cage door open the rest of the time he is in the cage so he can get to his play area...they love to play, when ever he is on my shoulder he is always doing the kissing sound over and over, or he says what, what ya doin, and he loves to play in my hair so now i put my hair in a bun when hes on my shoulder to keep him from pulling it cause he loves to pull it out LOL i tease with hubby and tell him i get more kisses from my bird then him LOL

If he is overly loud on one of my TV's I play Bird sitter he loves this..

as for the backing up to your face screech did this, it was my hand though he would puff up and try to put his rear to my hand, i discouraged this by distracting him, by moving, toy or by putting him down for a moment..this helped alot to curb that behavior

Thank you guys for your help. This is my first parrot and she has been kind of ignored by her two last owners - I would guess she is about 20 years old. The last two owners thought she was a male but when I got her she started laying eggs. This was not a problem until she laid 9 eggs within a few weeks. Took her to the vet and they gave her three shots - she passed out for a monent on top of her cage and I will never bring her to the vet again - unless i absolutly must - I was very upset. The egg laying has stopped now - I have left two eggs in her cage. She just wants to be around me 24/7 and while that is sweet it is also tiring. I have only had her for about 5 months. The last owner thought she was mean and had a sign on her cage Attack Bird. She is not mean at all - if anything, she is love starved - poor little thing. But sometimes I would like a break. Thanks again for your help. If I can just get her to stop the backing up thing - I would be happy. :orange:
