Hi everybody,

I just want to vent lol. My budgie gets the depo shot monthly due to his (her) hormones being out of wack. It helps keep things under control. My avian vet trusts me to do them, but oh my gosh itā€™s so scary giving him a shot!!! Heā€™s so small and after I do it he is shocked from it for a moment. I wish he understood itā€™s to help him.

If you are bothered by it, have your vet provide the shot month. Problem solved.

Or, you can turn it into a game /fun moment filled with tons of what a wonderful bird, you're such a sweetheart, thank you, you're such a strong bird, etc, etc, etc...

If it was convenient to do so I would! Unfortunately my avian vet is an hour drive away. Iā€™m able to do it just fine it just worries me with how small he is.

I always make sure to make it as positive as possible! He gets a whole load of millet and a lot of kisses and cuddles. I always sit with him after and comfort him. Honestly he takes it a lot better than I do lol.

Not sure if this shoe fits!
Make sure your pre/post shot routine is done during many other times! The last thing would be to create an association with the shot!

Heā€™s a spoilt little thing and heā€™s always getting lots of love like this, so no worries!
