and I would be the last person you would think would get a Zon.

So, a few days ago someone posted on this forum they had a Blue Front Amazon. I was already in love because I love Kiwibird's BFA. I really wasn't sure I wanted THIS bird but a knew A bird was going to have to be in my future. Anyway, after many texts I made arrangements to meet him.

I picked him up last night and took him home. He played on top of his cage for a while and then we put him inside the cage. I have seen him eat a little bit of a treat. He does move about his cage and this morning he came over to the corner of the cage that I was standing at.

He only whispers. It's so funny. I don't think he is saying anything he's just jabbering but softly.

I don't know how to upload pictures but I took some last night. He tried biting my phone but once he learned I wasn't going to let him he then started posing for the phone camera.

His current name is Red but somehow it just doesn't fit me or the bird. The previous owner hadn't really called him Red because she said it just didn't fit the bird. I have to agree with her.

So, back to being a parrot owner. :green:

He did play with a couple of foot toys last night.

He's SUCH a beauty!! Thanks so much for the photos! :) He looks like he has a small case of "agita" in the pics, HAHAHAH. :D

As soon as the phone got close to him he started attacking the phone...then he attacked me a few minutes later. :( But I was pushing it and I know that.

I am so thrilled that you brought him home! The fid formerly known as Red is just beautiful, and I look forward to hearing what you decide to name him:)

I have decided that his name is Whisper.

We don't know much about his past. When the person I got him from tried to find out more about his missing toenail the owner she got him from no longer responded to her communications. They told her that the bird was cage bound for at least two years. She was told he was 15 years old. It would be nice to know his "real" past but it really doesn't matter. In the end I'm still going to do the best that I can for him.

Now - for those DIY projects...a play stand, toys, and those washable poop tray pads.

Oh thank you - I am so excited. My hands are just a shaking with excitement. But sadly I have work to do and must do some today so that I can afford the DIY projects. :D

Awww...congrats! I saw the post looking to rehome him, so I'm glad this guy found a good home so quickly:) If you give him time, patience and consistency, I'm sure he will be a wonderful companion! He definitely looks (in those pics) like he has the typical "feisty" zon attitude;)

P.S. I think "Whisper" is a great name! Very unique.

Thanks so much. My son and girl friend really encouraged me to get him. Lots of things worked out for me to get him.

That may take a while. I have fibromyalgia and at the end of a work day...sometimes all I can do is feed the animals (cats, dog, bird) and myself and rest. BUT sometimes I get inspired and motivated to do things and I can work past my fatigue and pain. BUT I will try to get working on it. Of course I have to wait for the cage to come next weekend and I will have to order some new toys from MSBS. :p

So happy to see that Whisper is being well taken care of!

With me, Whisper took a good couple of months before he wasn't uncomfortable or aggressive with me or other household members. It took a while before his "true" self came out. It's only been a month or two that he's been allowing me to scratch his head feathers or asking to be picked up, so I'd definitely give him some more time.

He loves mangoes and grapes (sliced in half), so you may want to try feeding him those. He likes fruits in general. I fed him only a slice or two of oranges every couple days, but he went nuts for it. Peanuts (in the shell) are also a big favorite.

Congrats and welcome to the zon club.

Thanks Henpecked - I never dreamed I'd own a Zon.

41Gryphon - thanks again for him. Your advice is always welcome. How is your other fid fairing today?

I get overwhelmed when I look at the MSBS and the other sites...so much to buy and so much to consider.

How many of you have heated perches for your Zons?
