We've been visiting our local aviary because we have an African Grey Congo being weaned who is coming home mid-April. Two to three times a week we've been spending time with him. Well on Friday we casually asked about any Green Wings being hatched soon. They had two that had just turned 5 weeks old and were ready to be viewed.

Another family had viewed them before us on Saturday. When we visited Qbert (our Grey) we saw the two GWs. Well... we put a deposit on one of them! I have attached two pics. I don't know which one will be ours yet as the other family has first chance to pick the one they want. They have to decide today I think. We are just so happy we get to spend time with them before they come home.

Time for another massive cage :)

I was so surprised to see how big they were! They were barely smaller than my Grey.

Very cool! It has to be so rewarding to get pick them that young.

Congratulations!!!! I can virtually see you smiling from ear to ear. :D Those are fantastic news. You will be head-over-heels LONG before you bring your baby home. :)

So cute, I have a GW but my dream bird is a grey~ do you mind sharing the breeder? I'm in Maryland and would love to see some local greys :)

I have some more pics now that I know which GW will be ours. The feathers have been sent off for DNA testing so we should know in about a week whether it's a boy or girl. I will just say 'he' for now - although I have no preference either way.

He was very affectionate and cuddly with me. I couldn't believe how warm he was. Qbert - our Grey was also very affectionate and is finally perching. Three times he gripped my thumb tightly and flapped away which was wonderful to watch.

Triordan and mcmallot, the aviary is called DJ Feathers. They are in Chantilly Virginia and I can tell you they are wonderful. Tammy and David are the owners and are there EVERYDAY and they socialize their babies so well. I have a breeder closer to me, but I drive the extra miles to go see them everytime. When I was there yesterday they told me they have 3 more GWs and I believe 2 or 3 Greys available. I would contact Tammy asap. She is also very good with emails, but she is very busy everyday.
