He didn't say that they bought birds from him. They came to him for advices and tips.
And for the photos: He let us to take photos, he just told us not to upload it to the internet.

But I want to close the discussion about this particular breeder here.

What is interesting is that I've been looking for other breeders. Hungary has 4 well-known macaw breeders.

Everyone of them wanted to sell their birds at the age of 5-6 weeks, because they said it will bond better with me. I know that it is wrong, and it is proven that they won't. It was kind of shocking that the top of breeders want me to do so. I'd believe them normally, but I've read so much negative feedback about handfeeding, I've decided to call the first breeder (where we wanted to get our bird in the first place), and tell him that I am gonna bring him home when he is weaned. He agreed, I am gonna visit my little bird almost every day after the 5th week.

Even though we could make a deal, it is shocking that every big breeder thinks that way. One of the breeders told me that after the 6th weeks it is so easy that his 6 years old child can feed his birds.

Then this thing is true to Hungary in general. Sad.

Well now that's it's all sorted you just have to wait for your new family member, which I'm sure is going to be the hardest part haha

The reasoning behind why they want to sell them so early is its all about money to them as some macaws can take a long time to wean and that's excess formula, extra bird to care for and such....cause most don't have time to pay them attention so the birds can go wild easily. Thats why choosing the right breeder is so important. If I raised macaws I would not let them go until weaned!!!! I'll handfeed past a year if I must. I have had people in the past asking me for unweaned baby and I declined them all the way...

I am glad for you and wish you luck with your baby. I live in America and I do not know of any breeder that will sell unweaned birds. If fact some bird breeder sites will say We do not sell unweaned birds. And in the rare time someone weanes their own bird the breeder has taught them and the person lives in the same area as the breeder does. I do am no expert on international laws on pet birds but I imagine America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and many European countries have laws on imported birds and against wild caught birds. I think in your case the breeder may be trying to save time and money. This is not to say he is not the best breeder in Hungary. I will end by saying I want this all to be your choice. Like others on this forum we want you and the bird to have a happy ending and get to spend years together.
