What about Red Fronted macaws? They are awesome birds and I really enjoy mine. Valentino can be a handful so if you are a pushover the RFM may run you.

RFM is the smallest of the large macaw and mine is all macaw. He is the largest parrot I ever had as my other boys were mini macaws.

WarfRat - My Noble macaw was a sub species of the Hahn's and he was an awesome parrot. Very even tempered, personality was wonderful and he loved everyone and anyone. I never had nippy or aggression issues with Mihijo. I have learned over the years my opinion is that the Noble macaw is much more even tempered than the Hahn's. I find that odd since they are so close in sub species.

I also am not big on hybrids probably because of all the conservation involvement I use to have when I was active in the bird community. An example for me would be the Hahn's/Noble hybrid. Since they are different in temperament you don't know what you are going to get. With the large macaws they sure come out in all these pretty colors but the gene pool is then mixed up.

I am owned by Niko (the B&G) and Ripley (the GW) and love them both VERY very much!! :D

There are some fantastic hybrids out there as well. :)

I have a hahns macaw.... sad to see not an option. :green2:

I am considering a Hahns as well. My wife likes them. I was just asking about the hybrids. I haven't ruled any of them out. I would love to hear about your Hahns.:21:

Mini macs are great I've owned three a Hans, yellow collared, and a severe at one point.( still have the yellow collared the others have passed years before) they are the same as large macaws if not worse sometimes... They are full of themselves all the time can be very loud and well they are amazing and fun, but they don't have a smaller personality by far. Honestly large macaws are better then minis IMO I agree with wharf on that. If you could find a blue throat they are just amazing when they bond to you. Mine is the best bird I think I have ever had:)

i have two catalinas, hybrid blue & gold/scarlet. They are both awesome boys & very sweet! :)

I wasn't looking for hybrids when I found them. I was searching for a Green Wing available in my state. I didn't find any at the time & decided these two boys were just what I wanted.;) I have not regretted a minute of it & I have had them for a little over a year. They are brothers, Angel is 2 yrs. old & Roscoe is 19 months old.

I have a 7 month old Green Wing girl, Ruby Jewel who will be home soon. I heard from her breeder that she is almost ready, maybe a couple of weeks & she will fly home to me. I have always wanted a Green Wing. Ruby Jewel will be 'My dream come true' & I do look forward to being owned by her. :red1:

I know many folks do not like hybrids & that is fine with me. I have no problem with that & I respect their reasons. I love my two boys as much as if they were pure breeds & that is the most important thing to me & them!:D
