Hello~
I've read and read that GWs and Hys are both gentle giants of the parrot world. Personality wise, are there any differences? I've even heard of the GW being a poor man's Hyacinth, so they seem to be extremely similar...

I own a Hyacinth (Blue 2 and half years) and have also owned Greenwings in both cases the birds have been pets. Are they different? Truthfully, not a lot, visually I find the Hyacinths more attractive and a Hyacinth is slightly larger but from a personality point of view I don't think there is much in it from my experience. People differ far more widely than a Hyacinth and a Greenwing believe me (and I'd rather spend my time with either of the latter two and give the former a 'miss'). I've also owned B & G's Scarletts and Militarys and I have to say that a Macaw is a Macaw and absolutely the most wonderful creatures on earth! Although I wouldn't want to lose Blue for the world, if I had a Green Wing or Blue and Gold I think I could be equally happy and so putting the aesthetics (and rarity aside), you don't need to aspire after a Hyacinth to have the most brilliant Pet ever - you just needs lots of time, love and a dose of insanity for good measure
