new to forum.. i absolutely love my african grey and my double yellow head. have a few questions about keeping their cage and floor are clean. can anyone direct me please.

Welcome. I hope you'll share some pics of your birds:)

I made washable cage liners out of flannel (top), batting (inside to absorb liquids) and ripstop nylon. I personally like them MUCH more than newspaper. They don't rip when you take them out and poop, food and water cannot soak through and "glue" them to the tray. Plus, you can go 2 days between changing them.

Edit: I also have his cage on a large piece of ply wood I topped with linoleum. It keeps poo and food off the carpet and is easy to clean.

Hi welcome! I use the seed guards that come with my cage and playgym. These help a lot, but i also have a small bird. Other than that all i need is a good sweep every once in a while. I have seen people use the clear plastic mats for furniture like rolling chairs... i cant think of what they are called but they are used to protect hardwood or tile floors... My breeder hung a nice curtain behind her cages to protect her wall.

For my floor I use: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O32UHHC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01"]Amazon.com : Office Marshal® Eco Office Chair Mat - 36" x 48", Multiple Sizes - Hard Floor Protection - BPA Free | Opaque : Office Products[/ame]

And for the cage I just use paper towels. I change the paper towels like twice a week. I have a little bird.

I use sheet linolium. The stuff you buy off the roll at Lowes or Home Depot under my cages.

Hello and Welcome to the forums, Jeremiah! We'd love to see pics of your feathered friends if you'd like to share.

Welcome to the forums. I usually just have news paper inside the tray as well as the bottom of the cage and on the fllow and I'd replace them every night or other night for the one of the fllow depepding how messy Justine is.

I don't subscribe to a newspaper so i purchase rolls of panting paper from HD/Lowes (they come in different size rolls). Switching from seeds to pellets reduces the mess by a lot. Because Bonny can't reach the tray, I have been thinking of just lining it with a sheet of linoleum, shop-vac up the loose stuff and then just scrub the rest.
