I've taught Johnny to step-up and turn around on command but I want to move on with a new trick. I want to teach him to wave but I don't know how to go about it.

The way I taught Codie to wave, was to stand in front of him and wave... At the same time, I said.. Wave to me Codie.
It only took him a couple of Weeks to pick it up!! Now, every time I walk towards him, he waves to me, lol

When Erin had step up down to where she would automatically pick up her foot up when I raised my arm to her (as if to step up), so I would tell her wave and with my other hand give a hand signal and put my arm up and each time she went to step up (lifting her foot) I would click and treat. She learned that in one day.
Have Johnny standing on a perch outside the cage.
Touch Johnny's claw, and say wave, then you wave.
Repeat it a few times.
When he does wave offer him a treat, let him know you are happy.
Eventually your bird will catch on.

The way i taught Fargo to wave was by teaching him to shake hands first..
After he learnt to shake hands, i would reach my finger in position, he lifted his foot ready to shake, then instead i wiggled my finger, and he had his foot in the air he picked on quickly that wiggling meant to hold his foot up!
