I have a girl parakeet and a male and what should I do if I want hem to mate. My male and female are both young like a 1 year old and you can determine the gender. i have seen a couple of head bobbing and swerving but they never mated. i have school so i dont see them often maybe they have mated. i want little parakeet babies! thanks for helping:blue2::whiteblue::blue2:

they have to be at least a year old before you want them to breed so thats good that they are and having bird babies is great! im 15 and have been breeding lovebirds for over a year now i love it! but you need to do your research before you start breeding if there are problems you may have to do some quick thinking i researched for about a month before i started breeding look on google for some good sites about it and are you planning to handfeed them?? its a HUGE responsibility if you do and not as easy as it sounds! Please please do your research for the sake of your birds many bad things can happen and you will have to know how to handle them. To get them to breed give them a nest box all set up i have a youtube video on my channel which is in my signature on how to set it up for lovebirds but its pretty much the same for any bird. Also increase their daylight hours and make sure they have extra calcium the momma bird will need it for laying eggs. You can get extra calcium by giving a cuttle bone and also using special food with added calcium i use Kaytee Forti Diet for my lovebirds. Make sure you provide fresh fruits and veggies as well even if they wont eat it at first keep trying but make sue the fruits and veggies are organic so there arent any harmful chemicals in them! here are some sites i found on google about breeding them but you will need more info than this to start breeding its a BIG jab you must be ready!

Parakeet Breeding

Feeding Your Parakeet / Budgie for Good Health

that last one is diet for normal non breeders its still what your should have but yours should also have add extra calcium.
