How to make an easy, safe, and fun toy!

Step 1: Gather your materials. Start with a Melitta unbleached coffee filter (you can pick them up at your local grocery store), and birdie's favorite treats.

Step 2: Poke your finger at the center of the coffee filter, until you get the shape of a cone.

Step 3: Fill the filter about half full of goodies.

Step 4: Twist the top of the filter very tightly, that alone will keep it together nicely. It should look like this:

And now you have a nice toy for your bird! Mix n' match to make it interesting; make several of these with different components. For bigger birds, tie off the top with cotton rope or some other bird-safe material. That will make it last longer.

Yes, I made the pictures myself. I actually had fun with it. Photography might be a hobby I could look into, so this was (kind of) practice.

Awesome; let me know what he thinks! Remember, you can tie off the top to make it more challenging. Since I have cockatiels, I don't see the need to do that for them. However, I'd suggest that for a conure like him.

My birds love those. I usually use cotton thread and gather the tops. They last about 5 minutes but they're sooooooooo much fun!

I also want to do this but I need more info, sorry for being blond. Do you hang the finished product up or do you place it in a bowl or something? I am seeing the picture of Sterrejtie getting it open and then all the seed fall down to the ground in the process.
