Kiwi's t-perch is getting pretty bad, so I'm going to try and make him a new one here in the next week or so. His is a very basic 2 branches forming a "t" shape screwed onto a square piece of lumber. I found this perch (link above), which is obviously for smaller birds, but I still like the design. I don't really need a bunch of little branches like this one has, but I LOVE the looks of that "bowl" base to keep his mess contained a bit (it all slides off when I move his current perch). Im not sure about other bird owners, but for us, his t-perch is a must have. Since he isnt flighted, we take him from room to room with us on it, and have him trained to go back to it when he needs to go potty (as opposed to on the floor or furniture). We allow Kiwi to "wander" off his perch freely, so easy on/off access for him is a must. I'm not sure how I could incorporate a "bowl" like this into a homemade perch, and still keep it easy for him to get on and off the perch? I am going to look for a large plastic bowl at the goodwill and drill a hole in the bottom for the branches to be screwed into (and will have a wood base underneath for stability too). Any suggestions for how to make a similar perch with easy on/off access for him would be helpful!
