Today i was feeding my horse, and the flock of galahs that live around here decided to come visit me in the tree!

I thought it was so lovely of them ;) there were about 15-20 in the flock, but only half of them came to the tree in front of me..

So i enjoyed looking at them as they all looked down at me, maybe they knew i was a bird person :p

Then suddenly, i saw this little grey bird! and i thought wow, its a cockatiel!
I have never seen a wild one around here before, and i thought it was strange that it was alone in the galah flock..

I looked closer and i am FAIRLY sure it wasn't a cockatiel! Its head was all a bright yellow with no red cheeks, it was the same size and grey colour of a cockatiel, but then underneath its tail, it was like a reddy pink

We also have wild parakeets, but they are very bright and colourful so i know it wasnt one of them!

I have no idea about galahs/cockatiels but i know what they look like! haha

ANY ideas what it was and why it was with them?
I looked closer at the flock and it was the only one i could see, but he/she seemed quite happy playing with the galahs in the tree!
I really wish i had a camera, it was so interesting! :(

Did it look like a hybred? Here's the galatiel. Because hybrids of any species have a lot of variation I bet some could be born without the ear patches.

Ok i am absolutely TERRIBLE at drawing :p
but here is a picture i just drew of the colouring haha

He had a full yellow head, then the body and tail exactly like a cockatiel, but was reddy underneath!

I might go bird watching this afternoon and see if i can find it again!!

Hmm, it was more grey and plain on its body rather than all those pretty patterns!
But i think thats what the wild parakeets look like!
Maybe one of them and a galah had chicks :p hahahaha

Could be that bird, but a younger/older version. Maybe the colors change when they mature. Btw, most excellent drawing lol

between Tab and Crazy, I get to smile every day.......... Y'all are awesome :)

Tab, get a dang pic :p

Does it have a crest? If so, it might be some kind of rare cockatoo! Do you think it would of be a gang gang parrot? But with a yellow head!?

Or...

Tab, YOU MIGHT DISCOVERED A NEW SPECIE! CONGRATS! :D

The newly discovered Tab Parakeet! :D

Hmm. I liked it! ;)

I found a photo of a pale headed Rosella from underneath. How close were you and how good was your view?

At this angle it looks a lot like what you described.

I suck at judging distances ! haha ummm.. the tree was a few metres in front of me, now im looking at their pictures more im thinking it was, and the lighting just made it seem grey!

So a little Rosella decided to be a galah for the day? :09: hehe

And it seems my drawing was quite popular, maybe i should have an art auction ;) Do i hear 100 dollars? :54:

I'll give you a dollar! :D Great deal, if you ask me. ;) LMBO
