How much is that birdy in the window

I do not know what it is like to own a bird store or multiple birds, but my gut says that place is iffy and lazy. No way that CAG should look like that under professional care. Nor so many birds in that one small cage.

Please make a quality judgment.

Good luck.

Awww that poor thing just wants some lovin' :o

I have bought 3 of my cockatiels from them and all have been healthy.
This may reflect the breeder more that the store or store owners.
They had a beautiful blue & gold mac for (I think) $1800. I don't remember the exact price but I know it took them close to a year to sell it.
I tried more in jest than anything else to get the owner to cut the price in 1/2 and give me the cage also LOL.

If what they tell me is true and it is plucking feathers due to emotional upset with the dog it shared the house with, what are the odds it will recover?
The tell me it's only 7 months old and if it is a congo AG it does look to small to be fully grown. IS it too late ??

PS
am working on getting some funding, relatives that know my weakness for a hard luck case.

If the plucking was due to emotional upset, the likelihood of recovery will somewhat depend on the Grey's current state of mind. Not sure if a store situation is best! If seven months is accurate, the plucking may not be a lifetime event. Really hard to tell with this unusually sensitive species.

What was the owner response to your 1/2 off offer + cage? At least you may have planted a seed of interest!

WEll Tex...that video of you skritchin' his noggin shows me that he has a lot of lovin' to give/share. And you are not a newbie to a bird who needs lovin' that ends up thriving.

Geez...if it were ME...and I could get him/her for a price that is reasonable, WITH a cage?? I'd do it in a heartbeat :o But hey, thats ME!

That poor boy, I so hope you are able to get him. I do think he is older than 7 months because of his eye colour, though.

went there today and talked to owner. would not budge on the price but agreed all my arguments were valid.
(long time to sell, way above going price, ect.ect.)
The bird in question was much more laid back today. Standing on one foot and no excessive grooming. Still happy to accept a good head scratching.
I have funds in the mail to pay 3/4 the cost from a ... close relative who understands my passion. I have a wellness apt. at the avian vet set for this Saturday morning.
If the bird is still there (female I was told named Bella) I will buy her tomorrow morning excessive price and all.
will of course quarantine from the rest of my flock.
30 days good ? or should it be longer?\

edit:
from now on when I need something from a pet shop I will take my son. Give him the money tell him what to get and wait outside in the car.

I cant keep doing this.

really it's got to stop.

like right now.

OK...Now make this the LAST time you do something like this..really! :o

I am sure I'm not alone in saying this .
;)

Oh man, I feel for you and for that bird but if you pay that ridiculous price for that poor plucked bird, you are helping to perpetuate the problem. Most likely the pet shop got that bird back for NOTHING and they are squeezing you based on your emotions. I would definitely play the "damaged goods" card and would not pay them a dime over $750 for that bird.

Thank you for rescuing this bird, this is huge, I'm sorry they are asking a King's ransom. Thirty day quarantine should be sufficient pending the well check results. They should really lower the cost to help with the necessary vet visit. Of course the cost should be far lower already.

Looking forward to the homecoming, I'm very happy for you and the beautiful little grey.

I agree with Allee 150% here Tex..you are doing an awesome service for this beautiful grey, and like I previously mentioned,it looks like Bella has already taken a liking to you.
Can't wait to hear more about her, more pictures and updates.
Love you mannnnn for rescuing her! I'm sure you won't regret it :D
