A rainbow lorikeet and a red collar.
Hi Guys, hoping that my rainbow and red collar have babies, I will hand raise myself but have had and found varying advice on, if at all, how long to leave them with their parents. I like the idea from the initial hatching for all parties concerned. Any advice on this would be appreciated, has any one seen what these two produce? do you recommend a brooder per chick? cheers, Ian.

Great, thanks for the advice, just wanted to know if anyone who's already bred their lorikeets leave the chicks with the parents for any length of time, maybe a couple of weeks? maybe just a few days? maybe not at all. Can anyone give me an option, anything would be better than nothing. Is it such a stupid question it doesn't warrant a reply of any sort? Am after ANY info on raising these guys.......

I think it's probably more of the fact that there may not be any Lory breeders here on the board.

I know nothing about breeding lories. I have lineolated parakeet chicks, but I'm letting the parents raise them.

You have a perfectly valid question, but I agree with thekarens that there probably aren't any lori breeders on here. In fact, I can only think of a couple members who own loris, and none of them have breeding pairs that I'm aware of.

I will say, given the fact they they are softbills and the significant differences in diet from hookbill parrots, I would imagine the rearing of loris babies is quite a bit different from rearing hook bill parrot chicks. I did find a couple articles that may be of help though:

I do wish you the best of luck with your pair and the babies.
