We have had our Jenday conure for about 2 months. We started doing the fox whistle often to teach her. She caught on in two weeks. I am just an extra proud momma or is that pretty quickly? Thanks!

Awe, a ring neck? I really really looked into them. They are so beautiful. Unfortunately I didn't click with any that I got to hang out with. Maybe next time aroundFrom what I've read they're all a bit different if they choose to speak or song or whistle at all - so I think you should go ahead and be a super proud momma! My ringneck has yet to copy me after six months haha - he looks at me like he knows his language is better
Welcome to the forums, too! We love stories about how smart our birds are, and of course pictures!!
That's so neat. He sounds like a very bright boy, thanks for your insight! It’ll come down to the individual, as noted. Also key is their history with speech and whistles. If its one of the first things they’re learning - if they do it at all - could take a lot longer. if they have more experience, a lot shorter. My boy already has a big vocabulary including various whistles, so when i introduced a new, extemely simple whistle to him, its simplicity allowed him to pick it up in mere days (it was simply whistling the same tone three times - three pulses).
