RIP "pineapple" lovebird
So my freezer is tiny. Not big enough for me to even keep frozen human food really.
So I went on Craigslist and am buying a small chest freezer.

Which leads me to... How long does chop keep while frozen? Because when I start cooking I like to keep going and would love to have more varieties for my three.
Also how long does birdie bread keep? I only feed that occasionally as a treat..

I just used my last batch of chop that we made back in December, I believe, and it was still like new. I used tupperware containers and also put the container into a Ziplock freezer bag.
My birdie bread doesn't last as long, I have only had it in the freezer for a month, but it was still fine then:)

I date everything and I only make enough to last a month or two. I would rather not have it go over 2 months. I am sure it would probably be fine a little longer but that is what I prefer.:D

I do the same as Laura (labell). I date it, and don't let it sit in the freezer longer than a month. Now I've learned to make enough frozen food so it will be gone before one month is up. :)

I am thinking with the quantities I make since I only have three birds and the love doesn't care much for it anyways.. I would probably only have it two months at max and definitely dated and double bagged. I've found it's easier to bag them with two days worth and put those bags in a larger freezer bag. Then every two days thaw one little Baggie.
I hate freezer burn so I tend to over use the bags. Lol

I had proof today that Chiqui approves of this latest batch. I was running short on time this am and knew I would be back by 1130 so I gave them a small portion of pellets til I got back. As I was preparing their lunch though I had Loki in his small cage on the deck and Chiqui was out playing on his big cage. Once she saw what I had she scurried to the edge of the cage closest to me and begged for me to give her a lift directly to her bowl.
Then she dug in with gusto. :)

Doesn't it just make your heart sing when they love and appreciate all your hard work?

They make me so happy on a daily basis but absolutely yes.
I am always awed by the intelligence and capabilities of animals. Probably why I love training horses so much.

Love that messy beak!!!

She kept moving before I could get the best pictures. She had food all over herself :)
