Hi everybody!

I'm just wondering, how hot is too hot to take my birds outside? The cages are being ripped apart and washed today, so they could have some outdoor time while I do that. However, its 90°F today. I have a budgie and a cockatiel.

Thanks in advance!

From what I've seen around the internet, it is slightly too hot for your birds (especially for your cockatiel.) But, if you put them in a shady spot and have a cool water bath and drinking water readily available they should be ok. Although I have read that a sudden temperature change for cockatiels can be dangerous, so you might be better off keeping your cockatiel inside. :)

I think your birds will okay. Budgies and Cockatiels are from Australia and I'm sure it gets about 90 in the summer there. Parrots do prefer warmer weather. I would just make sure that when they are outside they have some access to shade and water.

I am no expert, so if I am wrong, please correct me.

I ended up just taking my budgie out and leaving my tiel in like you suggested!

Super clean cages now, everybody is happy haha
