Hi everyone!!
I’ve owned my female ringneck since 2019 and my male since 2020. They are from the same hatch? I think it’s referred as? And are now just over 2 years old. However my male still hasn’t got his ring in yet. He is DNA tested, talks quite clearly and does heart wings so is definitely male. But he still only has a shadow ring. It’s also just become summer here in Australia, can I expect his ring to come soon within the next few months as the molt season comes in or does the ring growth happen randomly and not alongside molting season. Thanks everyone!
plus, a picture of the little man himself Stormy.

If he hasn't molted yet this is probably normal, but I don't know much IRN-specific information.

Handsome young man there Stormy.

It can take up to 2 and a half year for the males get their beautiful black and orange ring around the neck. Beautiful green babies you have!

Thank you very much! I believe they’re almost exactly that age now. I’m still in contact with the person who actually owns the other Stormy (my birdies have a brother and a sister, we aren’t sure where the family with the sister is anymore unfortunately) but she sent me a photo literally a minute ago of her IRN with a single black ring feather. So exciting x My other baby, Luna, is actually white and pale blue because of the genetic differences of their parents. It’s really interesting when you understand the biology of it!!
