How does one get a stubborn bird out of the carrier?

One of the joys of living in an apartment is people trying to burn the place down. So this morning I woke to the building fire alarm, tossed Ember in the carrier and got moving.
False alarm as always. Only now, she does NOT want out of that carrier. It's sealed shut to I can't take the top off. And it's too squishy for me to reach into.
I doubt she'll stay there forever. But any advice for next time?:06:

Here's what I do...
I have a small dog carrier (hard plastic construction, front grate swing-open door, and a thick towel on the floor). Usually he's eager to exit, but if not, I open the door and gradually tilt the cage until gravity (and the slippery surface) causes bird and towel to slide out.

Thanks! I'll have to try this. It's been a while now and I'm worried she'll need food or water soon. Admittedly I could have been nicer about evacuating her from the building. However in the case of a fire, I don't want to take any risks of waiting too long you know?

If still in the carrier, set the food and water within 12 to 15" of the door and let nature do her job!

FYI: Get a Cat or small Dog three piece carrier. You can do the tip out or simply twist the four upper /low body section locks and lift the top section off the lower section!

No worries. She's out now. I did have to tip her out. And now she's pouting lol.

You can also set it on end with the open door on top. After a few minutes, most birds will climb up to the top where they can be picked up.
