How do you play with your parrot?

My sun conure Mango and I play this game where I tug my collar, she goes inside my shirt then she tries to catch my finger from behind my shirt. She LOVES this game.

I've never heard of a tamed parrot who didn't like scratchies. Whenever I raise my hand at Skittles he will lift his wing, meaning he wants a wingpit rub.

Let me introduce you to Parker. Sweetest guy around but does NOT want to be touched. He will tolerate a pet on the wing or chest, but he will watch you the whole time and don't you dare make it last more than 5 seconds. If you're lucky he'll walk away. Catch him in a bad mood and you'll pull back a stub.

Wrench, Parkers not a player at all. Good guy but no sense of fun and no sense of humor. He mostly just wants to sit on you and preen all day. Beak games are dangerous, and goofing around gets the side eye and side step away. Total perch potato.

He's like a fuddy duddy Victorian English aristocrat.

If I tug my tshirt, Skittles will climb in.

He is so obedient to vocal commands, it amazes me. I may be in the other room or heading down the hallway and on those occasions he doesn't follow me (usually cause he's busy doing something) I will yell out "Skitty!" and he flies over.

Or if he (as he OFTEN does) lands somewhere he's not supposed to I will say "HEY! Get away from there!" and he'll fly back to an appropriate place. Or I'll point to somwhere, snap my finger and say "over there" and he flies over. Or 'hey, stop being a booger!'. He understands me, it amazes me.

He will do this a lot when I'm on the phone, he tries to get my attention by playing telephone.

My Senegal loved to make me play fetch. She would drop it I would pick it up. I was her well trained pet.

Skittles does that with pill bottles! He'll grab them toss them on the floor and make a single cheep. I bet he's saying "fetch".

Beak wrestling for sure with Venus and Buddy.
Whistle game with Buddy, I throw a whistle to him, he throws it back, and we mix it up.
Venus, cover her with a tissue and she will grab the tissue and wrestle with me.
Venus, roll a cat ball (with a bell in it) and she'll chase it.
Our new addition Buzz, so far we play the whistle game too and he'll play it with Buddy too.

@Taw5106 How do your birds beak wrestle? With Skittles, I will pinch his beak between my fingers and shake it saying sweetly "I got your beak, I got your beak!" and he will try to get loose with his foot. I know he likes it cause he gets all playful and doesn't bite hard. Skittles will let me know when he doesn't like something I'm doing, either to him or in general. His 'thats a no-no' bite is impossible to misunderstand. lol

Nigel's begun "ambushing" my hand when he's running on the floor I wave my hands at him and he runs at me like a vulture and almost rolls over catching my fingers.

Like you I grab their beaks and shake them gently. The funny thing is, Buddy my Amazon growls and makes all kinds of sounds while playing, but Venus my Ekkie is silent so I have to watch her body language. She'll let me know when she's done. Now throwing the tissue on her then playing tug of war with her and the tissue, I think that's her favorite game. Also Buddy will start the beak wrestling grabbing my finger so I will say fake "Ows" and if he gets too rough, I'll tell him "too rough" and he backs off but he can get overloaded, lol.

"fuddy duddy Victorian English aristocrat." ... now THAT almost made me shoot coffee out my nose. Bad Chris - Bad Parker..

Speaking of aristocratic fuddy-duddies...

I guess this qualifies as playing-with-your-parrot! I had this picture made of the Rickeybird by a lady who has a shop on ETSY (an online arts&crafts store); her shop is called "Animal Folk". She takes photos of people's animals and "dresses" them in Victorian clothing. I can't look at this one without grinning. They are very inexpensive... I think it was around 20 dollars. She's delightful to deal with, too.

And without further ado, I give you... Lord Rickeybird.

Maibok aka baby plays untie the knot
Unscrew the cage...
Run in the wheel...
Throw the ring...
Catch a birdie!
....

Porter is more sedate and dignified.
He plays "Fetch" where he throws something and I dutifully give it back.

He is especially fond of "kill the can"
"Kill the duck"
"Angry birds"
"Give the humans a bath"....

Lol and of course Singing contests!

SO MUCH PERSONALITYYYYYYYY!!!!
I am so loving this thread!
Cannot BEAT Cockatoos and budgies.

Willow makes me think of Michael Jackson's WHO's BAD???

We play peekaboo with different clothing and he's really good at that game. I'll peek, say peekaboo then not say anything and just keep up with the motions. He'll do some chirping and eventually say peekaboo sometimes. He's also taken over one of my drawers in my dresser so he can shred up some pepper. It's like a playground for him. Sometimes we'll play the "bob game" by me bobbing my head a little and then he'll follow.:D

Sorry only just seeing this now.

Willow is fantastic, loved the window percussion, sounds a bit bluesy to me.

Really not seen enough of Willow! thanks. :)

I can sometimes if Plum is in the right mood play gotcha on the floor. I sit on the floor also and try to get the tip of his tail with a flat hand, no pulling. he then hops, skips and jumps out of the way until he tires and comes in for a calming cuddle with mum.
